A good barbecue cleaning cycle will help keep components in working order but sometimes replacement of parts is required. Barbecue burners can be replaced but must be the correct size for your barbecue. If your BBQ is not a standard size then telescopic burners (12-18") are available, these are adjustable to fit into most barbecue sizes.
Hot plates and grills require cleaning especially if you use salt, marinades and seasonings that contain salt. Salt residue leaves a rust-like orange blush on the cooking grids. This can be easily removed by washing and seasoning with vegetable oil before and after use. If your cast iron plates or grills become worn they can be replaced at a reasonable cost.
Igniters and Regulators can be replaced but must be the correct specification for the barbecue. If there is a blockage in the gas tubes, push a venturi tube BBQ cleaning brush into each tube until it hits the end. Using a hose, spray the water down the tubes to see if any of the burner ports are blocked, and if they are, gently clean then by inserting a pipe cleaner or toothpick into them. There is no need to do any maintenance to the flame or gas bottle. If you have any concerns have your BBQ checked or serviced by a BBQ repairer.
Carrying out regular BBQ maintenance will extend the life of all of your barbecue parts, providing a long love affair with your Wellington BBQs and Fire BBQ.
